People living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) and vulnerable groups at risk of HIV


Objectives:

  • Increasing awareness and knowledge on HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) issues to create demand for accurate information and quality SRH & HIV services.
  • Encouraging & increasing referrals & linkages between SRH & HIV service delivery and support mechanisms at the community level so as to increase people’s access & uptake of these services.
  • Increasing skills and knowledge of NGO staff , vulnerable groups & People living with HIV/AIDS and their communities to implement and advocate for effective SRH and HIV/AIDS integration.


Project Brief:
The aim is to develop a community-centered approach to make SRH and HIV/AIDS services accessible and available so as to reduce HIV transmission amongst the vulnerable groups and to help vulnerable people and people living with HIV/AIDS make safe & fulfilling sexual & reproductive health choices. The project mobilizes vulnerable and marginalized people into support groups, conducts Prevention of parent to child transmission of HIV(PPTCT) sessions in Antenatal OPDs, organize couple counseling sessions & Gender & HIV workshops, and sensitizes local health service providers and service providers at HIV testing, ART, and Maternal & Child health centers on SRH & HIV integration information and services.
