Composite HIV Prevention Intervention for Street Based Female Sex Workers at Narela

Objectives:

  • To increase awareness on HIV/AIDS and STD’s amongst the identified FSWs
  • To train peer outreach educators from amongst the identified FSWs
  • To establish a condom distribution system for easy accessibility & availability of condoms to identified FSWs & their clients
  • To promote safe sex amongst the identified FSWs
  • To improve the STI treatment seeking behavior amongst the identified FSWs and increase their access to treatment services


Project Brief:
STI and HIV/AIDS education and services are being imparted to FSWs through interpersonal communication, group sessions ,and infotainment activities/ events like street plays, video shows, poster exhibitions, health games and health quiz etc and part time clinics, so as to reduce their vulnerability to HIV, promote behaviour change and improve treatment seeking behaviour, especially related to STI treatment .Creating an enabling environment by doing advocacy with police, pimps etc. and mobilizing and empowering FSWs to form their own CBO is also an integral part of the project.
